smartport × GLS Austria: Secure EU shipping with €550 liability coverage for merchants from IT, SI, HU, SK & CH

As of June 1, 2026, smartport in collaboration with GLS Austria is offering a new shipping option for merchants from Italy, Slovenia, Hungary, Slovakia and Switzerland.

What's behind it?

Merchants from these countries can deliver their packages directly to a GLS partner depot in Austria – from there they are delivered throughout the entire EU.

Special feature of the model: Every shipment is covered by €550 liability through GLS. This is a level of coverage that only a few carriers can offer in EU shipping – particularly a decisive advantage for high-value electronics products.

Quick setup, broad ERP compatibility

The system is compatible with a wide range of common ERP systems. Setup is straightforward and can be implemented quickly – without a lengthy onboarding process.

Package prices can be individually negotiated depending on volume. For example, shipping to Germany is possible from €5.19, including the liability coverage offered. Standard delivery times are 24-48 hours for shipments to Germany, and 48-72 hours for delivery to France (including Corsica), for example.

The model has been running successfully since June 1, 2026 with an initial group of merchants. Starting now, all interested merchants can participate. Simply get in touch with your account manager.
